Default .05 levoxyl and 279 lbs.??

from all of your wonderful hypothyroid expertice - do you guys think that dosage is sufficient?? I thought I was prescribed 0.50 but then got home and saw it was only 0.05 ! My doc says I have a very mild case but my antibodies were out the roof (his words) and my TSH was 7 something. I guess I have to take this for 30 days and then get retested-he then thinks I wont go beyond the next dosage if I have to be redosed at all. I think i'm way too big for this little of a dose!

Don't worry, Jen, this is a very normal amount to start on, especially since your T3 and T4 were normal. You're just trying to get the antibodies down. It will help, it only takes a little.

I'm on .125 brand name Synthroid, but that's because I have another condition called Hashimoto's Thyrotoxicosis, and they give you way more than you need to try to fully supress your normal hormone production.

Hang in there!

It takes a long time and many visits to the vampire room before they find the right dosage level for you. My antibodies are very very high also, but my endo has been gradually increasing my levoxyl since the beginning of the year. (I made the mistake of taking armour for a while and it made matters worse instead of better.)
