I know so many women come to the Endo board wondering about Lupron Depot. Just to be clear I am talking about Lupron Depot – not Provera. I took a shot in December and will take another in March (10 weeks into treatment). Here is how it is going so far:

First 2 weeks I felt no different, but was really happy that I was finally trying something that traditionally has better results than BCP for Endometriosis. I was desperate to be pain free.

Week 3-5 were tough. I started having hot flashes and got up to about two an hour for a while. I would sweat all night in bed and crave water like crazy.

Around week 6 though the hot flashes stopped and I haven’t felt any different at all. My skin is pretty dry (but it is winter time) and I’ve had to change my make up and facial cleansers (no biggie though). I still have quite a thirst for water, but no more night sweats or hotflashes.

As for the pain – it is gone. Around week 4 or so it REALLY decreased and I very rarely have pain now. It’s amazing. I was in constant pain – so bad I was running fevers and now I feel normal. I had my calcium checked last week and it was perfect, so as long as you take calcium supplements you’ll be ok for that.

Sooooo hopefully when I’m done w/ Lupron at end of May we’ll start trying again J This time I know it has to happen.

Yay Olivia! I'm so glad your pain is gone! The summer will be here before you know it!

I know! I'm very pleased. Lupron usually has a bad reputation (and is why I didn't do it for so long), but I'm so glad I've done it. I have to say I was scared, but it has worked out well for me. I wish I had done this so long ago rather than BCP after BCP.

Any news for you on a lap yet?

I see my GYNO on the 19th, so hopefully we'll talk about it. I finished my 3-month cbcp, and while it helped with the spotting, it didn't do anything for the pain unfortunately. I'm on af right now, it was my heaviest yet on the bcp, but not as heavy as I had expected after 3 months. However, it was more painful then I had expected, like labour pain, kind of painful.

I did meet with a Gastroenterolgist last month, and he seems to agree my issues could be endo related (although colo-rectal involvement is rare he said, he seems to be leaning towards it.) I have to have a colonoscopy and endoscopy done in May (but I'm on a cancellation list).

I'm really stepping things up with my d&e, and noticing results, so I'm happy with that. I have a long way to go, but I'm definitely going to get there.
