I just started Met a month ago, I tried taking the 1500mg, but it makes me soooo tired!. I find that when I take one pill in the morning and one pill right before bed I do a lot better. Is 1000mg enough to see results? Has anyone else had good results with just 1000 mg? I have not had AF yet.
I just started on met about two weeks ago and I was prescribed the 1000 mg daily for quite awhile. My dr. didn't schedule a follow up so I'm assuming she is expecting results with that dose. As I have read from many other women and also in alot of research that less than 1,500 mg daily is not as effective but I guess we will se how things go?
My RE said that the minimum that he wants his patients on is 2000mg, but gradually works them up to it to reduce side effects.

When I conceived my daughter in 2007, I started met 500mg/once a day in late September of 2006. My cycles went from 'whenever' to having AF every other month before I got to the 1500 mg dosage. I was only on the 1500 mg dosage for about a month when I concieved in January of '07.
This time, I had two random AF's postpartum, then skipped for about 4 months. I got back on the met at the beginning of April this year, once a day for a couple of weeks, then up to 1000 mg. I had AF mid-April, then another one 35 days later this month! My ob/gyn wants to give it some time at the 1000 mg dosage to see how it works out before raising it, so I think it's totally possible that it may be enough. I think only time can tell, and every situation is different, but as I mentioned, I'm on a 35 day cycle so far (a miracle for me).
I guess I am part of the minority because 1500+ did zip for me. I was on 1500mg when I first started met back in Sept, then I moved up to 2000mg in December and saw nothing. I gave up on met until recently, started taking 1,000mg at night before bed on 5/11, along with diet and exercise. I just got my CH's this morning as I ovulated for the first time on metformin on cd12! So, my advice to you will be just to experiment and try what dosage you think is right for you. 2,000mg may work for one and do nothing for the next. It seems that I am 1,000mg girl.

I was on 1000 mg a day, then my dose was upped to 1500. I felt miserable and so sick I couldn't stand it. So, my ob put me back on 1000 to try to adjust. I went off birthcontrol in feb 06. I had a regular period every month and was pregnant on the sixth month. Before that I never had cycles on my own. I would have a period a year if that. It was magic for me. I was basically on 1000 mg a day. I exercised and followed a strict diet, I lost 30 pounds and it was when I hit my ideal bmi according to doctors is the month I got pregnant.
