Smile At 1000mg Metformin

Hi All,
I'm at 1000 mg Metformin since about October 2007 and I have only OV once on Clomid 100mg. On Letrozol 5mg now, but so far no OV. How long should I expect to wait for BFP? I'm feeling like this is not working for me. Should I increase my Metformin? I'm a bit worried and feeling blue.
(I'm also not sure how to insert my information and/or pics since I am new to this site...the acronyms have me wondering as well).

Its different for every woman. For me, met has worked wonderfully and it takes 3-4 months on it everytime. Some women it takes shorter, some longer, some it doens't work at all. Same with clomid. You can see my doses in my signature. I'd also recommend hopping on one of the thin ttc threads as they can be a great place for questions and support.

it generally takes 3-4 months for the metformin to kick in. Good luck, and i'm not on 1000mg, anymore.. i bumped up to 1500mg.

My doctor said it can take up to 6 months to a year for the Met to work for some people. I was on 1500 from Nov 06-July07 and then had it upped to 2000 from July 07-Nov 07. I was also taking Clomid starting in March of that time. I took Clomid 4 times and only O'd twice. So I don't know if Met helped with the Oing or if it was all the Clomid, but it certainly took a while of being on Met to make a difference (if at all).

Ive heard that it's most effective from 1500-2000mg, but that also varies from person to person. I would say if it's not horrible for you to be on it, to just stay on it a while longer and maybe ask your doctor about upping your dose.

I don't think Met was my wonder drug, but I think it's definitely worth giving a good try.

Sheepiegirl is right. I have read several places that 1500-2000 is the most effective dose and that it can take 5-6 months to see results. GL

I take 1500mg Metformin...didn't ovulate on 2 trials of clomid but did on the first trial of Femara.

Thanks all! I'll hang in there on 1000mg Met as long as it works. If not, I might need some other combo. Let's see if Femara and and HCG shot worked!
