hi ladies,
right now i'm taking 1000mg a day. is that enough? is anyone else taking that dosage and finding it effective?my bmi is 24 (not really overweight) . i think the dosage might be based on bmi. however i'm not sure. it seems like most people are taking 1500mg a day.just wondering if anyone else has had success in regulating af with 1000mg. thanks.
i was on that dose at one point...
my dr and i lowered it because i was having problems with some other meds i was on...
it seems as though the dosages are all over the board, but it depends on what works for you..
i am sure someone will be able to answer this better....
good luck!!! Lisa
thanks for responding. i guess they can vary the dosage based on a lot of factors. i've only been on this dose for 2 weeks. i guess i need to be patient and wait a couple of months to see if it works.
I have been on 1000mg for over a month now but I have found out that the more of it I take the more it makes me stay in the bathroom. I'm currently on gluophage and I think my Dr is wanting to put me on gluophage XR. Are you having stomach problems with the 1000 dose.

i haven't had severe bathroom troubles. i do have to go at least 4 times a day now for #2 (as opposed to two times before). over the weekend i had some trouble, i woke up with really bad cramps and diahhrea (sorry tmi!) but i'm better now. it's not so bad that it would make me not want to take it. i hope yours aren't too bad either.
Me! Me! I'm on 1000mg. :p I think it must be the starting point. I just started taking met in October. So far, so good.

Yes, my cycle became more regular right away (25-30 days instead of 14-45!!) And, no, we're not ttc; we already have 3 young ones. I've been very fortunate to not have a serious issue with fertility.

1000mg, That would be I.. And I've thought the same thing as in "Hey.. am I taking enough.." But I do think it's a starting point. I was SUPPOSE to have been taking Met for almost a year now, but I stopped after awhile. I just reccently started taking it again, I'll see in a month (When I go back to the doctor) if the dosage moves up any!

TTC Baby #1
Your story sounds just like mine. I noticed and regular period right when I started taking the met and at 1000mg and we are TTC#1 as well we actually started not worry about getting pg in January of 2004 so after 10 months of total mess from my periods we found out the cause of the source and now we are on the road again with alittle help. We started again ttc in February when I started taking met and we also started using the clear plan fertility monitor. Do you have one if not I highly recommend it. You can get one really cheap and brand new on Ebay. I did and paid $75.00 instead of $199.00 instores. Best wishes to you and your husband.

momo,
i'm so glad to hear that you already have three children. it gives me hope!!
marsha, thanks for the advice about the monitor. i might look into getting one too.
by the way, how many days after you started met did you get af?
i'm asking because i'm on cd32 and i've been taking met for 3 weeks. there is still no sign of af.
nastabasta-
I received AF around day 35 or 36. Not regular cycle but better than what I had before. AF seem to be alot better as in pain and follow as well. Are you TTC?

Marsha, Wow!! Maybe we'll get pregnant at the same time, wouldn't that be wonderful? lol. I go back to the doctor on the 15th, Maybe she'll up my dose of Metformin? Or maybe she'll have me do more blood work? I'm telling you, Since finding out about my PCOS I've been stuck with needle, after needle..Oh, one more thing.. Does the Metformin upset your tummy? (as in going potty ) I know it has mine, but I've noticed if i take both 500mg pills at bedtime it doesnt.. EVEN though I'm sure my doctor would disagree with me doing this, So I've started taking one in the morning, and one at night...
