I just have to say, your pictures are quite inspiring to me! I've just recently realized that what I eat really does affect how I feel and how I look and that I do have the power to change that fact, and your pictures have just backed that up even more, so thank you.
Congrats to you, I know you have got to be feeling on top of the world right about now!
Thanks for sharing your story; you are truly inspiring! Congrats and you look great!
I really appreciated you sharing about your "unhealthy lifestyle" and blaming it all on PCOS. I was really in a slump recently thinking "stupid pcos, I'll never loose this weight" and well after some thinking about this...it really is not the pcos...it is my portions, food choices and lack of exercise. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure that out. I too have fallen inot that "oh, my pcos will not let me lose weight..." I am overweight because I'm pretty lazy (in the sense that I don't exercise) and I over-eat, a lot. Made it to teh gym 2x this week already and its only Tuesday. Trying the one day at a time approach now.
Again, thanks for sharing and you truly look amazing!

I have been in a slump for a loooong time. I don't even think I blame it on pcos anymore...I think I blame it on......'it's a lost cause......I have too much to lose to even make a dent in it'.....sort of a defeatest attitude. I am the one to blame for sure!
But....maybe I need to take the work out of it....I am working full time now. 2 kids....a house... a husband...and I find myself eating poorly because I don't have time to do it right.....which, I know..is an excuse too! But fast convenient food in a pinch....which includes lunches when I don't have time to make them in the morning......
How much is it?

hey...I am trying to convince my dh about me doing it. I think I have oh......60 pounds to lose and can't seem to get going and stay going.
He wants to know:
1. what happens if you want to go out to dinner or "go off of it". for a meal or have a beer with dinner, etc?
2. How much weight do you typically lose a month?
we are trying to see how it would fit into our budget. I think it would be great to take the guess work out of eating....for a busy mom I think it sounds great. He, ofcourse, is trying to think of the money and how it will work in the real world!
any info would be GREAT!

Hi Holly,
The cost is about $9 a day, and I think they run a lot of specials where you can get a week or two free with your first order (and after you order 3 months, I think, they take 15% off). Even though I was spending about that much on takeout before I started, I admit it seemed like a lot of monet! Here's what you should tell your husband -- tell him it's an investment in your health and happiness - that's how I justified it and think that it kept me accountable to the program.
Everyone loses weight at different rates, so, of course, the amount per month varies between individuals. I, on average, was losing 8-9 pounds a month with following the plan most of the time (I would eat out every once in a while..see below). I also exercised regularly, which I think played a big part in not gaining when I would eat out. Also, something you can start to think about now is drinking enough water and eating more frequent smaller meals throughout the day...those are 2 big pieces of the plan.
Eating out...if you're like me and are obsessive about getting on the scale every day then try to make really smart choices while eating out! (the water retention after a delicious buger can be really discouraging!!) I still did it, probably 3-4 times a month and would also eat an occassional meal that was not NS (i.e. at a family party) but would just try to avoid overloading on carbs - passing on fries and pastas and sticking to places that were richer in flavor so I would eat less and feel more satisfied. It's funny - now I don't even miss all those carbs. What NS has really done for me is made me aware of what I'm eating and what I should be eating -- losing weight was something that I had no idea how to do on my own and NS taught me. So, even now, when I don't have NS food around I can go into the grocery store and pick things that are good choices. Plus, for me, the falling numbers on the scale and my shrinking size was so much more satisfying than anything I could eat that it kept me motivated (I think it was Oprah who said "nothing tastes as good as thin feels"....she's so right!) And an occassional (lite!) beer didn't hurt me, but that's something that I really saved for special occasions, too.
In addition to checking out the NS site, you might want to take a peek on QVC - I know they offer some plans, including a weekends off plan. In addition, I know there are people who follow the principles of NS without ordering the food.
hope that helps? Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll do my best to answer them

Yeah, for me it really started with taking a good look and all I'd been hiding behind -- and all the mistakes I'd been making. After I acknowledged them, I left them in the past and just started taking it one day at a time from where I was at (I used to think about myself as being too far gone to da anything about it because I'd already made so many mistakes and developed so many bad habits) and keep moving forward. For me it was helpful to shorten my range of thought...rather than thinking about what I would look like in a year ("omg, a YEAR that's soo LONG! I'll never stick with it") I literally shifted my focus to the day ("what can I do to make just today really healthy? I know it might be hard to resist that piece of cake at work, but I can do it, just today, and know I'll feel good about it when I lay down in bed tonight."). This trick really helped me out - but first it's all about admitting the mistakes to oneself (yeah, it's hard!) but then forgiving yourself, too!!
