Default 10mm follie on CD3?? Anyone have this?

Hi Ladies! I'm returning to femara after taking a 3 month ttc break. Today was my CD3 u/s and they found a 10 mm follicle in my left ovary - I've never had a follie at CD3. Have any of you experienced this before? What does it mean?

I asked if it was a cyst and they said no and that it wouldn't affect my cycle. Thanks in advance ladies!

That is a pretty big follie for cd3. I would ask ur Dr is maybe it's a cyst

Do u usually have cyst's on ur ovaries? I do!! But while on clomid or femara I do not. Either that or ur really on a later cd and mis-calculated
good-luck

Shawnee - I hope your IUI went well today!! It's pretty bizarre bc I've never had a follie or even a hint of one at CD3. I did have an irregular cycle in May (no blood, only brown spotting) - so maybe this is a result?

The RE did say it was a small follicle when I asked - how can you tell the difference between a cyst an a follie?

My Dr says that cyst's are usually much larger than a follie. Like 30mm or bigger, and u having one that's 10 on cd3 makes me wonder if it is a cyst.
So if ur Dr said no it was not a cyst, what was his explanation? Was that the only follie the u/s showed?

Shawnee - How is your 2ww going? It was the only thing present in the u/s and the RE explained it away as a follie which I just think is bizarre. But I'm guessing she's seen it before? She was very casual about it.

Hi. I just wanted to add that I had my CD3 scan yesterday for my first injectables cycle and I had lots of follies already. I had 15 on my right ovary that ranged in size from 4-10mm and 8 on my left ovary that ranged from 4-8mm, they told me I had a jump start in my cycle, but told me to procede with the injectables anyway. I have had cysts on CD3 before too, but they were over 20mm.

Sara - Thanks for sharing! I'm glad someone else has had this too because I wasn't sure what was going on except for the fact that the RE didn't seem concerned about it. Good luck with your cycle!!

Sarah, I was also pretty concerned, but since this was my first real CD3 scan I assumed it was normal. I asked if it was typical to see that many at that size and they said that everyone is different but yes.

I had my initial scan on CD 2(July 23) and had a 6mm follicle on right ovary and a 7 mm follicle on left ovary! This is not uncommon especially with PCOS.

I have never had an u/s on cd3, but today i had one on cd13 and one of my follicles measured at 48.....so even if yours is 10 already, it should still be ok come ovulation, you are just an over achiever
