14dpiui and I think I'm pg, but nurse doesn't...help!

I had an iui done against the advice of my dr for fear of extreme multiples and then having to face selective reduction....well, I did it anyway...and here I was at 13 dpiui going in for beta hcg. Half way there they call and say don't come, it's too early, and the test might not work right....any one ever heard of such a thing with a BLOOD test?? (I had been getting - hpts, but i'm a slow hcg-er) So I kind want to know before Thanksgiving, so I ask if I can come in early the next day (a whole 15 hrs later) and get same day results. She hestitated, but said sure. Meanhwhile I'm downing oranges and oj like a freak and read my email on my blackberry that says, this weekblah blah blah about need for folic acid.....hmmmmm....weird! According to FF I have 87pts in Early PG Analyzer....sore nipples, nausea, fatigue, etc. ANyway - in the mean time - I get a slight bleed- like one day- brigt red with some slight clots - and then its's gone - They call me in the middle of it all when I 'm buried under the covers already half dead to the world crying my eyes out. Tell me they don't know how considering my numbers (17+ follies and 8more to go the next day after the iui), but it's negative.....and progesterone was down to 1.7. (I had missed 3 days of Crinone). That's it - no more bleeding - they had said at the pre iui u/s my lining was thick....and I'm back on progesterone......
This happened to me with my twins only I got my +beta first, then the bleeding started. I didn't think I was pg anymore and found twins and found I had lost one to begin with so I would have had triplets......
Any words of wisdom, insight or anything? I have posted this on multiple sites and no one seems to want to say a word.... Please help!!!!!! What would you do?

All you can do is ask what your beta number actually was....sometimes dr's say numbers under 25 are negative (they do here at least...), so maybe that could be happening. With 17+, and 8 maybes, it seems very likely something stuck. But, what sort of doctor is doing an IUI with that many follies?! That's ridiculous, regardless of age, or you being forewarned....

oh, and if you're still on progesterone, that's likely why you haven't started a period. Maybe in the 3 days of missed crinone, AF was starting, then you started it again?

Thanks for all your responses !! =) I am so glad someone is listening!!!! I want to HUG you!!!! I guess my b/w was a beta hcg - what the numbers were I have no idea. I could all and ask. I am no longer on progesterone. was on from 4dpiui - 7dpiui. I had then run out and missed days 8,9, 10, but got it on the 11thdpiui.
Here is a new symptom to add - Thanksgiving day - 14dpiui, the day after the bleeding, I start experiencing pain in my left shoulder. It continues through yesterday and into today. I called drs office and they want me to come in tomorrow at 8:45 for an u/s.......I am so frustrated!!!! I just want answers. Guess I'll get them tomorrow huh? I remember going in for an u/s with the twins not even thinking i was pg anymore. I cried all the way there. Then to find out there was three but then only two....I was a little surprised to say the least. I just wonder if this dr really knows what hes doing. No u/s to confirm o either before my iui.....what about your drs? do they do that?

I noticed your siggy says Soy. I know it means soy isoflaves, but what's the scoop with those? If this is a total bust for me, maybe I should consider that....i was already looking online to go to the czech republic and visit prague for ivf.....lol!!! My dh would nix that idea - although spa and massages while you undergo ivf sounds great! =)

You're 14 dpiui today? And a blood beta was - yesterday (13 dpiui)? If I'm reading that correctly, then unfortunately, I would say that you're not pg. I'd ask for the specific # though, just to be sure. I've always heard the standard was a beta under 5 was negative, a beta 5 or over was +, but lately, on here, I've heard that dr's are saying they consider anything under 25 to be negative, which I don't understand. But, your progesterone is also super, super low. I would imagine that if you were to discontinue it, you'd have more bleeding. Add me to the list of people who are surprised a Dr. would proceed with an iui with 17 mature follies. That seems unethical to me, and a recipe to be faced with some horrible decisions.

I am 15dpiui today with 3 days missed of crinone and a - blood hcg (whatever that number may be) on 7am 13dpiui. On that same day (13) I had one day of light bleed with clotting - and that's it. Is that a period? I am SOOO confused! Eating oranges and salt right out of the container and thai food - I don't even like thai food......but pad thai sure smelled good to me.....now I am such an emotional mess no food sounds good except I am really thirsty.

POAS!! Call and ask for another beta, tell the nurse about the 1 day bleed. You're gonna drive yourself nuts not knowing if you're pregant or not.

I say go POAS - could be late implantation. And no my Dr. never did an u/s to confirm O before my IUI...if you triggered, there is no need. Did you trigger??

As far as soy I did 160mg cd1-5 and ovulated cd21 - bfp on cd14. I was also on 2000mg met a day so might have been the combo.

I can't believe your doctor allowed an iui with 17 follies, I'm sorry but that's uncalled for, exspecially after the octomom nonsence.

As far as ultrasounds I was never check to make sure I O'd.

As others have said--were you triggered? If not, it's entirely possible (unlikely, but possible) that most or many of those follicles simply turned to cysts. Hell, even if you were triggered, that could happen---I had an overstim cycle on Gonal F (it was cancelled, my RE was clearly more conservative than yours) and they told me to do the trigger in an attempt to cut back on potential cysts, and I got a bunch anyway.

Anyway, even with that many follicles it's certainly possible to fail to get pregnant. I dont' have any science to back this up at the moment, but I would wonder if that particular situation is so unnatural that conditions (hormonally) might actually deter pregnancy? I will look that up. Anyway, if you are still not seeing AF, of course checking another peestick and maybe asking for another blood test would be in order---if you ovulated at all, then there should really only be one of two outcomes---either pregnancy or period.
