Hi Kaitlyn! Welcome to Soul cysters!

Firstly theres nothing you could have done to prevent this. Unfortunately they do not know what causes PCOS or how to prevent it.

I was diagnosed at 17 had symptoms at 16 and hun I send u lots of hugs because it is not fun especially when youre goin thru your teen years!

There is hope as your Drs have you on great meds that will help with the pcos.

Stick to the meds and low carb high protein, low fat, low cholesterol, low sodium diet and try and get atleast 30 min of activity in per day it really does help keep your insulin resistance/type 2 in check and improves symptoms of pcos.

It wil lbe ok!

Theres lots of great cysters on this board and lots of great info to help u take control of pcos!

Best of luck hun!

Nope, not your fault! I was going thru it at in teens, but never got chkd out. So I just thot something was wrong me by being hairy, heavy, etc. I just read another thread on hair removal. Alot of women shave, & have had success w/ the laser or electrolysis. I've been using cream facial hair removers since I was 12 or 13. It works very well. I use it every few days, but want to try laser for more permanent results.

Probably all you could have done is begin to treat it earlier. I'm kind of glad I went thru h.s. & college not knowing/ignoring it. (I would've started worrying earlier). So...you are not alone. Now that you know, do the best you can & try not to let it get the best of you!
