I have read alot of threads on taking 1500mgs throughout the day as to keep your insulin levels even. AM, noon, PM.
My endo just increased me to 2000mgs and said to take two am and two pm. Will I still be "even" thoughout the day? Is this the best way to take for those of you on 2000mgs?
I take 1000mg at 7:00AM and 1000mg at 7:00PM. During times of stress my insulin really drops my blood sugar. But for the most part I seem to do fine spacing the dose out this way.
Wow, you totally asked the question that I was just about to ask. Yesterday was my first time taking 2,000 mg and I did it 4 times throughout the day. I know that I will never remember to do that every day, so I'm going to take 2 tablets around 10am and again at 10pm. I don't think there should be a problem doing that.
That's what I ended up doing too. I guess with that much in your system it lasts longer. I couldn't remember to take it four times a day either. Hey, do they make it in a 1000mg pill so we would only have to take one pill, twice a day? I haven't gone to get new script yet just using up all the 500mgs.
Laurntom, they do make 1000mg pills. Mine was just upped a few weeks ago. When I went to my primary, she informed me that they make them in 1000mg pills. I hate taking them during the day so I usually take 1000mg when I get home from work and the 1000mg at 10pm or before I go to bed.
I was still contemplating this question, so I called my pharmacist. She told me that my perscription says take 1 pill 4 times daily. She said that if I keep taking 2 in morning and then 2 at night, by the time 12 hours rolls around to take the next 2 pills my insulin levels will have dropped. So I should take them 4 seperate times daily to keep insulin levels level throughout the day. I guess I wonder what happens to insulin levels at night while I'm sleeping then. It sure is going to be hard to remember 4 times a day!
Thanks Stacey78 I kept wondering about it yesterday too. Never thought to call the pharmacy. I just wonder why the dr told me to take two in the am and two in the pm. There is just so much conflicting information out there (especially among the doctors!) Oh well, four times a day then.
My met is 1000mg tablets, and I take one in the morning and one at dinner. The main thing not to do is to take it all at one time. Met is not time released, so it's best to spread it out through the day.
