Default 1500mg dose timing

Any of you girls currently on 1500mg of met a day??? If so, how is it split up during the day? I just recently started on this dose and am on 500mg 3x/day. It's just sort of hard to remember to take that pill in the middle of the day.

I had been on 1700mg/day with 850 2x/day. I was on this for 2-3 years while trying to get preg and to help with periods, etc (normal IR issues). I was lowered to 1000mg (500 2x/day) after having my little girl to see how I would do and started having weird blood sugar spikes/bottoms and hunger issues so we're trying the higher dose now.

Thanks for any info you can give. If I can't seem to remember this 2nd pill during the day I may ask about just going back to the 1700mg... we'll see.

I'm on 1500mg's a day. And i take mine with each meal. I take my first one while @ work. and then the next one whenever i have lunch, and the next at supper or if i remember when snacking. I ALWAYS eat with mine, because if i eat even the littlest bit, i dont have any side effects.

My endo wanted me to do 500 in the am and 1000 at night. That made me want to heave 24/7! I think since BG/insulin are lower in the am, that's what cause me issues. Now I do 500 at lunch and 1000 at night.

Thanks for your replies on this! I've put a reminder on my work calendar and I'll see if that helps

I was taking 1500mg of metformin 3 x a day, until I found my new doc who is TOTALLY amazing, I now take 2000mg of met ONCE a day (with dinner). I started this almost a month ago and I've already lost 26lbs, I feel great, and my digestive system is finally back on track! I LOVE met!!!!

interesting! Well, I've been doing better since putting it on my work calender to remind me so we'll see. I still have some hunger but I'm also on AF so I'll have to wait and see once I'm done with that. I'll give it a little time and if I'm still not good I have the 850mg 2x/day script still so I might just go back to that myself and try that before I go back to the dr in Nov. Then I can just tell him then how I'm doing.

If I'm still having issues I might mention the 2000mg thing. I really think I was good on the 1700mg... weird how just 200mg could be that big of a diff. But like I said I want to wait to really get a good feel for the 1500mg once AF is done, then I'll know for sure.

Is it Met ER? And, do you have any s/e at all taking it in such a big dose at once?

I was having the same problem! I am on met and I was taking it 3x a day. I am only good at taking meds in the morning. So I kept forgetting to take the afternoon and evening pill. So then my doctor suggested that I take 1000mg in the morning and 500mg at night. Same thing happen I kept forgetting to take the evening pill. So now I just take all 1500mg in the morning and as long as I eat breakfast I have no side effects. (and it is not the extended release)
