I’ll give you a quick run down of my usual day!
im up at 6 and i use hair removal cream on my face, out of the bath room by 6:45 and applying thick coats of make up until 7:15
by 10 I’m in the bathroom, re applying make up in fear someone will see it!
and again at 1!
im home by 4 and i can feel stubble everywhere! i can see it and its completely devastating!
now my quire is and i would love every1's opinion on this, im 17 years old and as you can see the hair runs my life, am i to young to shave? i've been using hair removal creams on my face since i was 14 and its getting to the point where its just not doing enough anymore! would it be more beneficial for me to shave? im scared to take the final plunge and shave daily! but at the same time, i would be kidding myself if i thought i could avoid it for ever
i have a complete beard given a few days of free growth! but its not really course at the moment, i guess im scared if i start shaving it will make the hair less noticeable but you'll be able to feel it more!
any advice of shaving would be great!
I started shaving mine not much older than you (I think I was about 19) and it didn't make it any coarser. It was already like a monkey's bum! It does give each hair a blunt tip (instead of a tapered tip) but I think creams do that as well anyway.
For me shaving makes it the least noticeable, but one day I want laser to get rid of it effectively!
I think shaving pretty much gives the same end result as creams. When I was 17 I used to use the creams too,but they left me very irritated. I was relieved to find shaving wasnt nearly as bad as I imagined. Its quick, painless and cheap(and very portable). So dont be too scared, it may not seem the most "feminine" thing to be doing to your face, but it does a great job!

When I was younger I would try plucking, cutting the hair close with a small scissor, creams & waxes. I did not want to start shaving because I thought it was a man thing. Well, when I was in my early 20's I finally tried it & it's my favorite hair removal method for my face. And my hair growth - thickness & darkness - hasn't changed a bit in the years I've been shaving. I think it would be good for you because it's fast, & less irritating than cream, especially since you use cream every day. And the best part is that since you have fast growth, you could just go into the bathroom, do a quick shave & you're done. I've even seen razors that are small & on a stick, that are great for smaller areas.
I think the best razors are ones with some sort of strip on it, or the ones with a piece of soap by the blade. Use conditioner or a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil, or a shave gel. I find bar soaps way too drying. I wouldn't recommend single blade disposable razors, they'll take the skin right off if you're not careful. If the hair is stubborn, wet a washrag with warm water & let it sit on your face for a minute. It will soften the hair. If you're still undecided, pick an area to test & shave that area for a week or two, & see how you like it.
Edited to add - make sure your blades are not dull. It makes a huge difference.

I too shave. I have done all the creams and waxing but when it comes down to it shaving is fast and convient. BUt what i do sometimes is on the weekend if i am not going out or anything i will let my hair grow in and on sunday night i will pluck out what i can. It helps me feel better because my hair wont grow back as fast and my skin on my face feels so soft afterward.
Always here to talk ;o)

thanks for you advice, its mean allot! im going away this week wit the boyfriend, a week of being constantly with him, so im either not going to be able to hide the hair or i will have to shave, which i guess after reading this i'm ready to do!
eva yes im on spiro 200mg, ot has helped but not as much as what i wuld have liked!
thanks again. SAMi
Samix I find pure sorbolene soap that you can buy from Priceline is best on my skin for a shaving "lubricant", might be worth giving a try. It doesn't dry your skin out like regular soap does, and it's not expensive either. Plus it doesn't have any strong perfumes or chemicals that can irritate.
Also, my number one advice is to exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! The Body Shop's "Juice It" strawberry scrub (which is the ONLY body scrub fine enough to use on your face - everything else must be a facial exfoliant) is scrumptious in it's smell and very gentle, but does the job very well. But there are lots of great facial scrubs to choose from - again, Priceline is a great spot for we Aussie cysters!
You said you already use cream depilitory on your face..well it does the same exact thing as shaving as it just "melts" the surface layer of hair off, and shaving just takes the top layer of hair off, so dont worry about stubble if you arents getting any with the depilitory cream. The only thing to worry about really is razor burn or cutting yourself ,like I did this morning
I have been shaving for oh so many years and I have found that the best way for me to shave is in the shower. First I exfoliate (in the shower)with St. Ives facial scrub then I cut the cold water down so that the water is very very warm and just let it rush over my face for a minute or so, I have found that doing this opens up pores or whatever and the hair comes off easier this way. Then I use a triple blade razor with the aloe strip and always with sensitive skin formula shaving creme. This is what works for me. I hope that you are able to find a way that works best for you. The only problem I have experienced is with dry skin and I have been looking at the other posts and getting some great ideas to try, so thanks!!!
Someone else noted about hoping that their children wouldn't repeat what they do in public... that is another reason I shave in the shower. I have taught my dd that when someone is in the shower that it is a private time and she should never go into the bathroom until the bathroom door is open, thank heavens we have two bathrooms. I just dread the day when she notices the stubble and asks me about it. Don't mean to change the subject but has anyone had to deal with this? My dd is 5 and I know she notices it, she will rub my face late at night and just give me funny look? Anyone else have a good explanation I can use. Keeping in mind that at 5 "discretion" is not in her vocabulary. She told everyone at Church a few weeks ago that Mommy had to go to two different stores to find the right tampons!!!! She must have overheard me talking to a friend of mine on the phone... I thought I just might die right there... Anyway any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks for the tip. I tried waxing at a salon but my hair was so tough it wouldn't work. The tech was very kind and told me to try used the eyebrow shapers that they make. Their kind of like a straight razor. She said that you always shave in a downward motion. It has really worked well for me.
I run a day care and some of the children I keep have noticed my facial hair ( I guess look up gives them a much better view) I have just explained that all people are made differently. I've talked to them about how they look different from each other, we;ve talked about people with disabilities being different. I try to help them understand that looking and being "special" is OK.
My DD is jsut 16 months and I'm dreading the day that she notices these things. I just hope that she never as to deal with this thing like I have had to.
You can get he eyebrow shaper at walmart of Sally Beauty Supply. I don't use any kind of shaving cream I just use it dry If It's a good sharp razor it works wonders. I've found the one's in the beauty supply stores are sharper and do better. The only bad part is that their kind of expensive and to get a good shave you can only use them a few times.

oh ya, I use those! arent they really nifty? The only downside is you have to be careful not to cut yourself as they really get very close to your skin like a straight razor. They make you much smoother then just shaving with a regular razor though.
