Hi Kristin (fellow veggie!) - I am an ovo-lacto veg and am on the IR diet and find it great. Because you eat the foods you want based on the IR Diet principals of linking protein with carbs, it is easy to translate to vegetarian. Getting protein from legumes is extra beneficial because you don't count those carbs (you'll read more on that in the book). My fave protein sources are eggs, cheese, nuts, soy products such as tofu and tempeh, edamame (green soy bean pods),veggie "meats", etc. I bought "The Soy Zone" by Barry Sears and got further ideas. The Zone and IR Diet are similar, but the Zone can seem complicated to some and it also seems more restrictive.
Just let me know if you have any questions!
