To tell you the truth, there are a lot of doctors out there that still don't know what PCOS is.
The first family doctor I went to ordered a bunch of blood tests and an ultra sound and then basically told me to go home and wait for AF to arrive. I then changed doctors and I went into her office and showed her a magazine clipping abut PCOS and it described most of my symptoms, high testosterone levels, un-wanted facial hair, absent periods, etc... She then ordered a bunch of blood tests and then set up an appointment with an OB/GYN to treat me. It took 6-months to get in to see the specialist but so far I am impressed that he knows what PCOS is.
If you're not happy with the Dx you get from your present doctor, you have the right to a second opinion. Maybe you can mention PCOS to him and tell him to research it because it seems to be a common condition in millions of women in the world.
We should all get together and make it known that PCOS is out there.
Thanks for reading my rant!
