Uhm... doctors like to scare you when you don't agree with them, sometimes.

You would have to be pretty severely overmedicated for a long time before your muscles would collapse. There are much earlier signs of hyper that you would notice beforehand and hopefully decrease medication before that happened.

As long as dosage increases are done slowly and you monitor yourself closely for side effects - and take proper blood work into consideration (most doctors just to TSH which tells you only a small part of the picture), you should be fine. You can always decrease meds again if you get hyper.
