b vitamins, etc. Hi Auntlee, yes, I was hoping you would think I was talking to you. I was! I have extremely fair skin, so people are always surprised that the hair on my legs and now my face and stomach is so dark and coarse. I really do have man hair.
The b vitamins make my sister violently ill too. I take probiotics on a regular basis, and that doesn't seem to be the problem. I tend to get less sick if I eat lots of protein about a half hour before I take the b's.
I went on Doug Kauffman's candida eradicating diet and gained 14 pounds. I stayed on the first phase (most restrictive, he recommends 2 weeks then the less restrictive for several months to life) for 3 months. I also took caprylic acid, olive leaf, etc. It is basically no fruit but lemons and blueberries, meat and some vegetables. Like I said, I gained. I went on a juice fast for 1 week and gained, got extremely sick and became badly acidic. Every diet I go on, I gain weight and I haven't lost any weight for about 4 1/2 years, only up, up, up.
My dad is diabetic and he said Co Q 10 is making a huge difference in his IR, also alpha lipoic acid. His numbers are coming waaay down by just adding those 2 items to his diet. If you are taking Chromium, be sure to take Zinc also, and make sure you are taking the chelated versions of those (plant or yeast sourced). Something that has helped me cut waaay back on sweets (I never use to eat sweets til recently-uh oh =) and don't eat much when I do) is taking a few tablespoons of virgin coconut oil. When I take that I often forget to eat as I don't get hungry. I don't usually eat anything until after 1pm anyway (just discovered that is a huge sign of b6 deficiency). I was getting afternoon energy slumps and would eat my biggest meal around 4pm. If I take the VCO at 1pm in a smoothie, I won't eat til around 8pm. It doesn't seem to matter what or how much I eat, I still gain slowly and steadily. This all started with a prescription for an antidepressant called Elavil (amitryptyline). Gained 40lbs in a month and steady gaining ever since. I read in the PDR that if you are on thyroid meds, you aren't supposed to take it, so I am assuming that it messes with the thyroid. Makes sense, since I developed hypothyroid symptoms from using it.
I sure wish Adkins made me lose weight....you are soooo lucky. Go ahead and post your diet page anyway, I like to look at new recipes (even though I'm too tired to do anything with them!)
Thanks for responding!!!
