They usually tell you to fast when you get your thyroid check, because the levels of blood sugar, etc change with food. You usually have to start fasting after about 11 pm the previous night, so I usually try to make my appointments for the morning so that I can go eat breakfast afterwards. Anything can throw it off. One time, I went to my doctor and I didn't know I was to be tested. All I had was a cup of yogurt and she said I couldn't be tested. I'd definately ask the doctor were I you, especially if this is your first time getting checked.
