Default !

oh. my. god.

I've been taking metformin for 5 years now.
I knew that when I didn't eat with it, I would get diarrhea and nausea. That's easily avoided.

What I JUST realized is that my constant gassy and bloaty feeling is due to the metformin! I thought it was just me and there was nothing I could do. I considered that I had IBS which I could very well have, but Metformin really explains it! When I wake up, I feel fine, my stomach is the flattest it'll ever be all day (i.e. NOT bloated, not huge) and as the day goes on I progressively feel bigger. It's not that I get FATTER of course, but my stomach balloons out. Dates, going out, and social events happen at night not morning!

Anyway, so now that I think this is my problem, I read some tips and I'm excited to try everything. One question though:

Do you take the caraway seeds, yogurt, and whatnot, before a meal, with a meal, with metformin, or to relieve the symptoms? I'd prefer to find a way to PREVENT the gas, rather than just relieve it once it happens (which I can't seem to control , even by avoiding "gassy" foods).

Thanks to any help . I have the gassy problem but usually no other metformin side effects.
