I started on BDP when I was only 12 almost 13. They did regulate my periods for a short time and then I began having long irregular periods. Sometimes my periods would last for months. I was hospitalized a few times with particularly long ones. By the time I was 14 I had my first episode of acute pancreatitis. It was at this time that I was diagnosed with PCOS. The cause of this episode was never determined. I believe it to be caused by the strain on my pancreas due to my IR. At the age of 19 I became annovulatory. I've found that my symptoms were much worse than most teenagers with PCOS. Perhaps the advance in my condition was increased by the use of BCP starting at such a young age. |
