I made an appointment yesterday with a psychiatrist for the first time. My mom tried to tell me just to go to my general doctor, because it would be "cheaper" ($20 copay as opposed to $40 for a specialist), but I decided I felt more comfortable seeing someone who actually specializes in mental health, not just someone who can write me a quick prescription.
My appointment is on the 28th of October (I wish it was sooner!) and I really don't know what to expect. The nurse on the phone asked me my symptoms, and I just said I thought I was depressed. I think I sounded really lame and pathetic :-P Oh well.
