i know it's scary to get into therapy/psychiatric treatment- it's just like closing your eyes and jumping into the murky water of your subconsious. it is not easy work. and you totally do not need the added stressor of worrying about your medications/paying for them. i recently found a resource for patients with no prescription coverage.

https://www.pparx.org/Intro.php i applied through this website. you enter all of your medications into to form and answer a few questions. then it tells you which of the drug companies are offering assistance programs. then you print out the forms and fill them out. (i'm not going to lie- it is a lot of paperwork, because you need to fill out the information for each drug company.) you then take the forms to your doctor's office and they fill out a portion of it and submit it to the drug company for approval.

http://www.nami.org/Content/ContentGroups/Helpline1/Prescription_Drug_Patient_Assistance_Programs.htm this is a link to a listing of the major drug companies and their websites indexed by medication name. and at the very bottom of the page is a link to more resources like the first link that i've posted.

let your doctor know about your financial concerns. be vocal; most md's i've worked with are willing to help out where they can. they get many free samples from drug companies, so they may be able to give you a week or two supply. or your doctor may be able to prescribe another less expensive drug in the same class of medication.

also, i've recently learned to ask for partial refills on my prescription. my newest psych medication, seroquel is around $200/month. often, psych meds get changed every couple of weeks due to side effects or lack of clinical response; if you only fill 2 weeks at a time you save money initally on the prescription and you won't have $100 dollars of extra medication to throw away if the md discontinues it.

*hugs* hope this helps. best of luck to you.
