Xeri, I think its a Canadian thing. When I was PG, I was firm about staying on met. My doctor agreed that I could until the first trimester was up. After that, I brought her all these studies showing the benefits of staying on it and she said that A) she didn't think that there were enough studies because a lot of the ones that I brought were just articles referring to the same study over and over and B) even if there were a lot of studies, it's still rather new for use in PCOS and pregnancy and that there really wasn't any way of knowing if it might catch up to these kids as they age. No flames for me, thats just what she said. I went with her opinion and stopped taking it around 17 weeks. I should add that DS had a seizure when he was 9 days old and the pedi hinted that being on met while I was pregnant *could* have had something to do with it. I'll never really know and maybe he's just got his head up his butt....but it made me think twice about doing it again.
