Smile Mirena (hormonal IUD)

Hi Bethann,

It will be 2 years next month since I've had my Mirena. I have both PCOS and Endomitriosis but did not want to go on the pill anymore. The fitting was a bit of a shock for me, I didnt expect that much pain. Although I bled for a month and a half afterwards, it has been absolutely fantastic ever since. I would strongly recommend to anyone, even if like me you dont have children. The only thing i would change next time is to ask for an anaesthetic next time I have one fitted. I like because the release of the necessary hormones are localised (well, that's my understanding anyway), rather than swimming in your blood stream and wreaking all kinds of havoc.
Let us know what you decide.
