I would have to agree with all of you who said that we've had it since we were born, it was in our DNA. There have been some theories that say we actually inherit PCOS. (I've done my research) The only reason it doesn't get diagnosed until later in life is:
1. Our hormones don't change until puberty.
2. There isn't enough awareness of PCOS, and its symptoms. (which there should be)
and if you are diagnosed earlier in life, like Starmaiden, it's most likely because the Dr noticed something was off.
I myself knew something was up, then I had to have a breast exam done and my Dr noticed the hair around the nipples and mentioned PCOS to me. I thought nothing of it and then one day found the pad of paper and looked stuff up and found that I had other symptoms too. But that was only because my Dr noticed something and told me about it... and the rest is history!
