Default I'm so glad that I'm not alone!

Hi! I just found this most excellent site and I am so glad that I did. If I could take a minute and introduce myself, my name is Jenny Grabert and I live in Roanoke, Texas, near Fort Worth. I am almost 23 and married to a great guy who thankfully has taken the time to understand this disease (almost a little more than me...hehe). I was unofficially diagnosed around 2000 but I didn't have any cysts on my ovaries at the time. Before this I was treated for all of my problems individually which means lots and lots of medicine. I ended up going on Accutaine for about a year which not only didn't do anything to my acne but completely changed the way my body worked. I used to have a very oily face and my hair was always greasy if I didn't wash it every morning. Now, if I wash my hair everyday it gets so dry that it just starts falling out faster! My face is also like the sahara that no amount of moisterizer can help and I still, at nearly 23, have acne problems!

I have been married for nearly two years and my husband and I have had the hardest time having kids. Just after we were married I found a very great GYN who was the one that actually diagnosed me officially with PCOS. She did a sonogram and I nearly cried when she pointed out how many cysts were covering my ovaries. She suspects I've had PCOS since I was 9 when I started developing and I just went 6 years without having a period. I spotted a few times in those 6 years but it was nothing major so I didn't think anything of it. Even in 2000 my doctor wasn't even sure what PCOS was or how it worked. I am so glad that people have been able to figure out how to treat it sucessfully. My husband and I are positive that one day we'll be able to conceive. I have been taking Metformin for the past two years and while I dislike taking it I am glad there is something out there for me. I hope I can be of some help to others while I am here.
