Default Hi there...

My name is Abbey. I am a 35 year old single mother who learned in 2000 that I had PCOS just a few days after I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I never had regular periods and assumed that was "normal" because not one doctor felt it neccessary to investigate the matter further. From the time I was 12 I would go months and sometimes years without a period. I developed weight and depression problems, acne and frizzy hair, skin tags and dark patches until I was eventually diagnosed with type 2 diabetes when I was 30. At one point I even had a vaginal ultrasound in my mid 20's that showed ovarian cysts and I still didn't receive a diagnosis.
At this point I take so many medications I sometimes feel overwhelmed by it all. I sleep with a bi-pap machine for my sleep apnea and wrist splints for my carpal tunnel syndrome. I take two types of insulin...which amounts to about 12 injections a day. I've also developed chronic pancreatitis and was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder in 2000.
Yet aside from all of that, I am a pretty happy person. I have a wonderful daughter, a great job and despite being on disability, I have hope for the future. I'm excited to have found this forum and to make new friends with issues similar to mine.
