I am new to this board but have already found out so much useful info. The thing is I am really confused as to if I should be taking any meds or not. I am 25 and a thin cyster and was diagnosed about 3 years ago. We are looking to start ttc this year.
When I was diagnosed I was sent to see a specialist and she said when I was looking to start ttc that they would get me put on Metformin.
The thing that is confusing me is I am not exactly sure on what metformin helps with as they never explained. I am also very irregular which makes me suspect that I may have trouble ttc. I don't know if it is best to go to the doctors and ask to get but on metformin before I start trying or are you supposed to wait and then if nothing happens then ask to be put on it?? Also what does clomid do, I have heard that mentioned?
Also does it help prevent miscarrige (i'm sure I have heard it does?) as I am scared stiff about finally getting pregnant and then losing it. If metformin helps then surely it is best to go on it before we start ttc?
Sorry to ask so many questions but the doctors were not very informative when I was diagnosed and everything I know about PCOS i have found out myself.
The issue of what meds I should be taking are really confusing me and I want to make sure I take every possible step towards getting my baby.
Any info would be really appreciated.
