how many people wear socks constantly to hide the hair around the ankle & toes & feet? Again - just epilate my legs, don't get much hair on my toes/feet
does anyone wear turtlenecks/scarves to hide hair on the chest or neck? I did this for a long time and got sick of it. Sometimes if I can't be bothered with makeup/plucking etc I cover up with a scarf, but I usually make the effort these days
or comb your hair around your face so that sideburns arent visible. I have started wearing my hair down more (on the plus side my boyfriend prefers my hair down!), but whatever I don't pluck, I started growing some of it out rather than shaving it off up to about halfway down ear level and it's just starting to look like regular hair I can sweep behind my ears now :s
if you cant wax, nair or pluck for a few days, do you give in to the urge to shave? (actually i heard plucking is worse and shaving is better but i feel safer plucking for some odd reason) I never shave cos my skin gets irritated. I haven't seen any probs as a result of plucking, in fact I find it grows back slightly finer and sparser but there are lots of people who seem to think damage gets done...I guess it's different for each individual. Though if I'm going away, I epilate my legs properly before I go, and pack some tweezers and a mirror and I'm set for at least a week
favourite method of hair removal (besides laser/electrolysis but if youre on it PRAY TELL how its working for you and how long it took to complete the treatments) here are some preferences: sugaring, waxing, threading, plucking, shaving, finishing touch/electronic hair removal blades, nair/cream. also please recommend brands, types, and pros of cons of the ones you like or dislike very strongly. I found waxing too messy (though if I have a lot of time on my hands I'll still do it cos the results feel better), depilatory creams too smelly, shaving too sore (again cos it irritates my skin). The only hair removal I do now is underarm, leg/tummy epilating and plucking stray facial hairs with tweezers along with a razor for places like knees and I find it works quite well
does anyone else get knicked from shaving their arms or toes or feet? Nope cos I don't shave much. Though having said that, as long as I'm not cold I don't get nicked! (all those goosebumps are just asking for it....)
whats the strangest place that you have to remove hair? i dont know if its strange but my fingers...i actually woulda said the tops of my feet or a couple other things except that i saw some people who said they too have to remove the hair from there. Probably just the sideburn area (not really that strange all things considered)
HOW on EARTH do you get rid of all that tiny black stubble? the kind that looks like pores in your arms or wherever you remove it from? the ones that when you shave or whatever its still there! my legs even kinda look like that bcuz im so pale and then i got these li'l dots except on my legs its pores, on my arms its hair. anyone got any ideas? I have relatively pale skin with dark hair so this problem plagues me too. I epilate so I don't get that horrible stubble-like stuff and I only have to do it once every week or two (rather than shaving every few days) which works out well. I have a lot of that stubble problem on my neck and sideburn area, but that generally gets plucked out and it's fairly coverable with makeup
anyone tried those hair buffers by con-air or any of that kinda stuff? the ones where you replace those pads on it? like a microderm abrasion kit? Haven't tried that, but I've used a Silkymit before (sounds similar except it's just like a sandpaper-like pad you use and it feels just like that - sandpaper.) I got a hideous rash after using it once and decided never to go there again :s
WHAT IS A FACIAL HAIR BUFFER? they have those facial hair buffers at the stores but i dont know if they really work like they say they do and HOW do they work? thats why im hesitant to buy it. Not sure, but I'd imagine it wouldn't do me much good cos I'd still get that stubble-look just under the skin
anyone had any luck w/ the facial hair buffer, hair off mitten, or the Sally Hansen hair removal kit that includes the "hair wand"??? i dont know what the hair wand is but its called something like that i think, i cant remember but i was and am tempted to try it except that i think its probably going to be something like nair in a tube, or "wand". i just wanna know what it is! Haven't used any of those but the 'hair off mitten' sounds like that Silkymit I was talking about before
favourite method? most effective? least favourite? least effective? please give details as to why, if you can. i.e. the smell, the residue, painful/leaves burns, too much preparation time/doesnt remove small/long hairs effectively, doesnt remove hair as its supposed to, etc. Fave and most effective for me is just my Braun epilator (hurt like hell first few times I used it but it's become far less painful, have had to do it less and the hair is growing back finer on my legs)
how does hirsutism affect your love/social/sex life? and on a scale of 0-10 (or OFF THE SCALE!!!) how would you say that the hirsutism affects your self-esteem/self-worth? Scale 1-10 is probably these days a 4 (it used to be a 8 but I think I've just gotten 'used' to it...if that's possible). My boyfriend doesn't really notice (and if he does he doesn't say anything), my friends don't notice either. If anything, it's just a bit of a hit to the self-esteem some days....
does your partner know you have hair? do you cover/remove it and try to keep it flawless all the time or do you sometimes let it go for a bit? Sometimes I do let it go a bit if I get busy, but it's just become part of my routine. I haven't brought it up with my partner but I'm sure he must notice it. General plan is usually to pluck it all out and if it's a bit red, cover it up with a little bit of powder
does hirsutism cause a less-fullfilling sex life? I used to feel self-conscious, but I think it's was more that I was well overweight AND had hair, now the weight's started to drop off I don't care about the hair so much any more
have you come to accept the problem or do you constantly find yourself wondering how things would be different if you DIDNT have it? does it cause a constant state of depression/loss of control? I think I go through phases of wondering what I would be like if I didn't have hair - I used to do it a lot more and I'd get frustrated to the point of bawling my eyes out for a good half hour or so, but as my weight's been dropping it's been a lot more manageable so I guess it's a lot easier to accept plucking a couple of hairs out every couple of days rather than plucking a LOT out every couple of days...
does the cold seem to make hair growth worse? No, but it makes epilating hurt more!
pros & cons of your favourite method/least favourite method. i know ive put this a few times on here probably but i figure that different products may be listed on different areas so you dont have to answer this if you have already and youre going to say the same thing you already said...lol bcuz i dont wanna be a hassle BUT this is more for the last words on any product that is worth knowing about. Fave method is definitely my Braun epilator (which also doubles as an electric shaver) along with a pair of trusty slant-edged tweezers. If I have to use a regular razor I have a Venus, and if I'm home waxing I use Nads, an Australian waxing product (it smells awesome (apparently you can even eat it cos it's all made from natural fruity stuff etc.. my flatmate's eaten some and says it tastes ok but I can't quite bring myself to do it.....) but it is incredibly sticky.....
