Hi!
My daughter is just diagnosed as well. I just wanted to mention a couple things. If at all possible, try to find a doctor that specializes in PCOS. That's our next step as well. Also, don't be surprised if when you try to lose weight, it doesn't work. I know for a lot of people, it works fine, but for us that was one thing that got me to bring my daughter in to the doctor. I had started Weight Watchers (GREAT program by the way!) almost 2 years ago. I did really well and am a lifetime member. Everyone changed their eating habits with me, but over the last many months, Valarie and my husband have started actually counting points as well. Not only is Valarie not losing weight, but she's GAINING!!!!!! She also has IR which is a major factor in that happening though I believe.
So anyhow, I only mention this because as you start trying to manage your weight.. be aware of how it's going for you. Keep journals of what you're eating and your body changes. One thing I read about people with PCOS is to not manage your weight with a scale, but with measurements. I don't know how true that is, but that's what I saw. LOL
Good luck and as a newbie myself....... welcome!!
