I think the worst part of the problem is not simply the facial hair growth but the fact that society makes such a thing of shaving the face as being a "male" thing. But lots of us shave every day. I'm into my 50s now and I've been shaving since I turned 14 and shaving every day from the time I was 15. In that respect, I suppose I've never known what it's like to be an adult and not have to shave. I've never known what it's like to have a body that society would classify as "feminine" in appearance. But I'm a woman and I've a husband and I've a big family. In some ways, though I may be less "feminine" than them, I've been more successful as a woman than most of the girls I grew up with -- I've more kids than any of them and I've kept the same husband for nearly thirty years and we're still in love. I haven't needed to be successful in being "feminine" in order to be successful as a woman.
