I don't know the percentages, I just know that the odds are much better if you have a cerclage placed before you begin to actually dilate. I dilated to 4 with bulging membranes and it worked for me. While I'm on the subject, for anyone who reads this thread, remember this
1. You CAN have a cerclage if you are 4cm or less dilated.
2. You CAN have a cerclage with bulging or protruding membranes as long as they have not ruptured.
3. Your cerclage does NOT have to be removed if your water breaks. You do need to be on IV antibiotics in the hospital if this happens, but you should not be forced to deliver unless there is an infection.
I see these 3 things too many times and it makes me sooooo mad. If your doctor does not agree with this find another
