I cannot tell you all how happy I am to find this site. I thought I was the only one with all of these problems. I am 30 years old and am undiagnosed as of yet, but it seems like PCOS is the only answer to my problems. I have never had infertility issues (thank god), but I have had *female* problems for years. My periods would last for 10 days and I thought I wanted to die, from the time I was 15 or so. I wasn't too bad in my early twenties, and had 3 successfull pregnancies. However, when I was in the o.r. having my c- section with my 2nd child, the dr. found what he thought was a tumor in my ovary (+5.5 cm). It turned out to be a cyst. I became pregnant 3 months later and had my last child. However since that time, I have had only about 12 periods in 5 years. When I do have my period it lasts forever ( 10 days or more) and is so painfull I have to take prescription pain medication. I have migraines once a month, around where my old period used to arrive. I have gained 100+ lbs. in the past 5 years as well. I have the trademark "ring around the collar" and underarms. I remember scrubbing in the shower for an hour at a time trying to get "clean" in high school. It was so embarrasing, but now I realize that its not dirty, its just a skin discoloration.
When I first went to my dr. she told me to be thankfull for 3 periods a year, and dismissed the acne and extra hair as "things that happen as you get older" What a load of bs. I am making an appointment with a new dr. asap and have some bloodwork done. Thank God that I found (hopefully) an answer to all my baffling medical problems. Keep strong, and thanks for the hope. |
