It's not uncommon for IR people to take that much. I am actually only on 1,000 mg right now, but it's very possible that it will work up to that. Actually Met is the generic form of Glucophage. It's good that the doc is working you up to it gradually, it will allow your system to adjust to it. You might want to check out a book called "The Insulin Resistance Diet", it's very helpful in helping you adjust your eating habits and learning the proper way to eat. I found mine pretty cheap at barnesandnoble.com, it was a bit pricer at Amazon.
