Do a search on soulcysters on insurance. There have been several threads in the last year with people telling about individual insurance companies that covered them.

Find a good independent insurance agent that understands health insurance. He/She will have detailed information about the different types of policies.

If you work in an industry that has a professional society, check and see if that society offers group insurance. You can pay dues to the society and be eligible to particpate in their group insurance.

Employer paid health insurance is a huge benefit! Most people don't realize what is worth until they lose it. You can always look for another job that offers group insurance.
