Melissa - I am also sorry for what you both had to endure. I can't even imagine.
So, as far as taking a pregnancy test - did you have an HCG shot this time? I see that you said you did have chorionic gonadotropin and I think that means you did an HCG shot to induce ovulation after your Clomid.
If you DID do an HCG shot, 5 days is too early to do a pregnancy test. HCG is the chemical that pregnancy tests look for because it is known as the pregnancy hormone. I have read that 14 days is the soonest to be sure that 100% of the HCG shot is out of your system and any results on your pregnancy test would then be accurate. Of course, some people say as early as 11 days after the shot is long enough. But my RE said to wait 14 days, which corresponded with a lot of the reading. PLUS, for my peace of mind, I didn't want to test early, get a positive and then find out it was wrong because of the shot. Mentally, I would have had a hard time with that, so it was easier to just make myself wait every grueling day until I could test knowing the shot was out of my system.
The 2WW is excruciating!!!! I'll keep you in my thoughts!
