Honey is naturally antimicrobial and antibacterial. It's been used for thousands of years as a topical "ointment" if you will. Honey's good to put on burns, cuts, and other skin problems. It's very soothing to the skin, which is why you'll find it in so many skin products. If you google honey you'll come up with a billion uses. There's a ton of info on wiki, but there are a billion other sites out there about it. My favorite way to use it is to apply an even layer over peanut butter which is placed between two slices of whole wheat bread.

If you can find honey that has been produced by local bees it can help with your allergies.
