I agree with the other poster who told you to stay on Met through the 1st trimester at the very least. There is no disputing the studies that have been done on Met decreasing the chance of miscarriage. Absolutely insist if your doctor gives you a hard time. I actually switched doctors because they were against taking Met anytime throughout a pregnancy which I absolutely can't believe with all the studies out there saying otherwise. Met is a class "B" drug meaning it is safe to take during pregnancy.
My current doctor agreed with me about staying on it through the 1st Tri but then stopping it right around 13 weeks but I didn't just stop immediately I took another 1 or 2 weeks and slowly weaned the dosage down until I stopped completely. I got pg on 2000mg.
Again, congratulations! |
Thanks!!
Ugh, this is so frustrating though! I went to the doctor today and he told me to stop taking the metformin and prescribed me progesterone tablets instead. I really don't know what to do...I feel like I should listen to him since he's the doctor but then I hear so many other things. He did tell me I have a high chance of miscarriage because of my PCOS and that's why he prescribed the progesterone. I guess I will follow his advice, wish me luck!!
