Stevia isn't 'artificial'. When I was in Thailand, and you ordered tea, you were also served a small cup of dried stevia leaves. If you put one or two in your cup, it sweetened the tea nicely.

The white powdery 'stevia' sold in stores is processed, and has additives (but even then, i wouldn't call it 'artificial', and certainly not an artifical 'sugar'.)

For those looking for another natural solution, try agave. This link has a clip from Oprah where Dr Oz talks about agave: http://www.dvo.com/agave-nectar.html

Agave has a lower glycemic load than table sugar.
