I see Dr. Eldeiry and he is with the endocrine Group in Albany,NY.... He believes that just because your thyroid levels are in the "normal" range does not mean they are "normal" levels for you. If you have the symptoms of underactive thyroid and you don't feel well because of it then your levels are not right for you. He feels everyones normal levels are different. If you are at the low end of the range and your symptoms are not getting better then he will put you on meds to increase your levels. Your levels are not right until you feel better. If we all think about it we are all so different and our bodies all function so differently why can't our levels be different. I ALWAYS recomend going to an endo. no matter how far you have to travel or how much it costs GYN's don't specialise in this field so they can't help as much. For example I went to my GYN and he said that most women who can't conceive or do not get their periods are fat and lazy. (oh and he is also a fertility specialist). I then went to my general practioner and he said I don't know much about thyroid I will have to research it. So please no matter what it takes go to an Endo it was the best thing that happened to me. I walked into my endo's office told him my symptoms and he said you probably have pcos we will do bloodwork to confirm it and then treat you for it. GO TO AN ENDO! It's the best way to get help. Sorry this is so long but I wanted people to know about my different experiences with Dr.s
