I feel like when I tell people about PCOS, that my periods are horribly screwey and it'll be really hard for me to have children, they say "yeah, so, it shouldn't matter as much for you." No one as ever said anything remotely close, but it always stays in the back of my head.
I am also going the alternative route. I do acupuncture, herbs, and vitamins. It helped with m last cycle (had my first 28-day cycle!), but hasn't worked for this one so far (I'm on day 31). The combination of treatment has helped in so many other places though...I'm going to stick with it. What about you? |
ABW, I think it is sad that people think PCOS is all about having children too. My symptoms made me hideously overweight at one stage and that held me up from getting the career I wanted. It wasn't until I lost the weight that people would hire me. Therefore, PCOS is of huge concern to any woman, no matter what her goal.
I mean, it can even stop you from having partners. Even now I'm thin, women like me as a friend but don't know why they can't find me sexually desirable. Three in a row have seen me naked and backed off, but honestly, I am not hairy and not fat any more! I just put it down to my thick waist and Darwinian selection. It's a very painful situation, but it can't be helped, and there doesn't seem to be any other logical reason why I would be rejected so often.
To answer someone else's question here, I think the community can generally be more accepting of you if you have a more masculine appearance, but there are no guarantees as to how that will go for the individual. I am quite obviously a 'femme' and have gained more acceptance for being thinner.
In terms of the treatments I am trying, I am an auric/magnetic healer, and so I go to see another energy worker regularly. I also eat a good amount of cinnamon in my food each day and take dong quai as I need it. Since the weight loss, I have had regular 35-or-so day cycles without needing to do too much.
