(((hugs))) You learned a very hard lesson: always make sure a doctor or hospital is in your network before using your services. Check with the doctor's office and see if he would have let you go anywhere else to have your labs done. If he requires this particular hospital, you might approach it from that standpoint with the insurance company. I had surgery once and the anesthesiologist was out of network. I argued that I didn't have a choice about it and he was covered like he was in-network. If that doesn't work, set up a payment plan with the hospital and pay them what you can afford each month.
