I did take it the entire time during pg. I don't know if it has the same miscarriage-reducing as glucophage, but I had hoped so, and that's why I took it. I did not get gestational diabetes, either. DD was IUGR, but I have no idea if it was related to DCI--I seriously doubt it, as she quit growing around 32 weeks and I had taken DCI the whole time. More likely the sorry placenta wasn't making enough progesterone or something. And I was extremely sick the first two trimesters (got down to pre-PCOS weight while like 4 months pg! 120# bad thing!), so she may not have gotten enough nutrition then.
In theory, DCI is excreted extra-fast by our kidneys for us PCOS gals, and that's why we're deficient and need it to help our insulin. (clinicaltrials.gov is recruiting for a study to prove this if you just wanna read, put inositol and pcos words both in the search box and it'll bring up the study)
so I can't really imagine it would hurt us during pg--normal women would have a normal concentration in their blood, which doesn't hurt baby.
I would do it again and take the dci again the whole time again. I did quit taking it while bf, because I didn't feel like I needed it, she was already born & alive, and the effects to baby are just not as known as the met.
Plan to take it again after weaning. HTH! pm if you wish.
