Default Can Met cause you to feel hungry all the time?

I'm insulin resistant and my mother in law is diabetic. We're both on Met. Recently, she told me that her doctor claimed that a large majority of prescriptions for Insulin Resistance and Diabetes can cause a person to feel hungry all the time. I've noticed for quite some time, even before talking to my mother in law, that I have been feeling ravenously hungry all of the time. I'm watching what I eat, how much and when, but if I don't eat every few hours (at least a small healthy snack--- no more big meals for me!) I go through a kind of weird experience where I literally start shaking and have excess salivation and feel nauseous. I asked my doctor about it. She shrugged it off saying that it's because I'm conditioned that way. I've been eating a restricted diet since April, felt fine for a while, been on Met since March and now I'm feeling this way. It doesn't make sense. I'm on 500 mg of Met (3 X per day) since March. My doctor refuses to re-evaluate my dosage level. I shared this with my mother in law, who then told me about what her doctor said and how she is being switched to a different prescription that does not have this side effect.

Is there any validity to the thought that Met makes you more hungry all the time? Anyone else experience this?
