Honestly, before I invested in Proactive, I would try the "Acne Free" namebrand. It's available at Target and Walmart, for sure, and I bet other places, too. I use only the cleanser, and you get this enormous bottle for about $5. It's the same active ingredients as Proactive, for a fraction of the price. They have the whole three-piece sets, too, in both regular (like Proactive) and severe (that I think has both benzoyl peroxide and retinol), and both kits are around $20. My skin looks great since I started using the cleanser. I use an Olay Daily Facial cloth to get all my makeup off, followed by the Acne Free cleanser. I don't use toner, but put on a layer of regular old benzoyl peroxide (the Walmart brand) and after that dries, a layer of the daily glow moisturizer. One of the things that I like about the Acne Free cleanser is that it lathers, unlike the Proactive. Not that it makes a difference, but I feel cleaner with the lather! lol

What I didn't like about the Proactive was how they forced you to enroll in their "clear skin club", with auto shipments. My credit card was billed every month for $29.95 (I think), and every other month, the shipment would come. I ended up with a lot of extra, unused product that I just gave away to friends because otherwise it would've expired.

I've always had better luck with benzoyl peroxide products than I have with salicyclic acid products.
