Hey Tam,
the flu shot really made a difference for me last year. Before that, I used to get the flu at least twice a year (once during the flamenco festival in Jerez - with all those people from everywhere and all those international bugs flying around, I could always count on a fever and a cough and missing at least one day of classes! ). After last year's flu shot, I was sick for 3 days (which is not much considering that normally I would be out of the running for a week), and the entire year, I really didn't get the flu - a day or two here and there with the sniffles, but not bad enough to really be at home in bed. And THAT was worth getting the shot. This year, I felt under the weather for a few days, but I didn't have to miss work. Teaching was a bit of a challenge, but it turned out alright. Saturday I had class myself, and I was already feeling much better. So if I was you (or your husband), with the kids bringing home all kinds of bugs, I would consider getting the shot. Even if you can't avoid catching the bugs, the symptoms should be much weaker.
I got an invite from my doc as well to ge the flu shot, since I am insulin resistant. I wonder what that has to do with the flu - are diabetics and IR patients more prone to the flu? Or is the flu more serious for us somehow? I wonder ...

I had my second post-op eye check up this morning. Everything is just fine, I have 100% vision with both eyes, no wrinkles or other things on my cornea - everything healed very well, so I don't have to come back till May. Very good news.

Ok, gotta dash - more meetings and stuff that needs resolving ... Have a good and hopefully flu-free, day!

Tina
