I was diagnosed with PCO ten years ago, but probably had it undiagnosed in adolescence. At the time I was diagnosed I was in Kaiser Permanente and pushed and pushed to get help. It didn't make sense to me that I would be gaining weight so rapidly and so greatly. At the time met was a very new and seemly radically treatment, and for whatever reason, I wasn't able to find people to help me and I simply gave up. My experience felt like once they determined what my problem was, that I was let go into the ether to find my own way.
I am very glad I found this board so I feel less alone with this struggle. I have been concerned with preventative care and long term health issues (risk of heart disease, diabetes, and etc.) I am finally ready to try again to get some help managing everything. The good news is that I am finally getting out of the HMO.
Anway, thanks so much for the information. It is really helpful and now I will be more realistic when I go over there.
BTW, I hope you fall in love with SF. I wonder if you will miss your hot summers, though!
Best wishes.
