For your first question, I've never had any problems with my antidepressant medication. I am not sure if Paxil is a SSRI or not. I think that with almost any new medications you will have some side effects. If you are feeling a bit nauseated, try sipping some water or ginger ale. That helped me when I started on Metformin.
As for your other question, I carry a lot of my weight in my stomach, too. To add to the factor for me is my Mexican heritage. So I have a butt and thighs, too. I look pretty slim from the front, but I look really strange from a side view. Makes finding pants that fit quite a task, too. =D
