Certain bassinets do come with a sheet, but it's always best to have a few onhand...I myself didn't bother, I just used pillowcases

Much less expensive because we already have them!

As for number of sheets, with DS I had about 3 or 4. But if you have a washer and dryer at home, you can do fine with just 2.
