Default Hey

Hey! I was diagnosed with PCOS just by an ultrasound that showed I had the classic "string of pearls." The only symptoms I have had other than that was very irregular periods (sometimes I wouldn't have one for 6 months at a time) I had no lab work done...I was concerned of this! Can a doctor diagnose someone by ultrasound only? I have been on Metformin to regulate my periods and that has worked somewhat. Should I be having lab work done while on this?

Thanks for your help!
