Default Well, it seemed like a good idea....

I got in touch with one of our local pregnant women's crisis assistance groups, whose president is actually an adoption facilitator. My thought was, well, if we go through them for an adoption, it's a small organziation, we'd be helping the women involved as well as the company itself, etc.

Well, I found out it's $8400 (half due when you decide to go through them), plus we'd have to do an independent homestudy, plus attorney fees, plus 3-5 months of living expenses for the birthmother. And the children through this agency still are at high risk for drug/alcohol exposure before birth due to the population they serve. I guess that seals our decision to go through the county for foster/adopt since my work doesn't reimburse any adoption expenses and we've already spent a huge amount of money on fertility treatments which didn't work. I know the county will support us after the adoption is finalized with therapist, social workers, etc etc and I'm not so sure about this group.

More of a rant than anything really, so to any of you still reading, thank you and wish us luck!
